Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and [Company name, company number, registered address — to be completed] (“Bedtime STEM”, “we”, “us”) for using the Bedtime STEM service. By creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data and your children’s.

You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of any child you add to the service. The service is for personal, family use.

Bedtime STEM generates bedtime stories for your children, scaffolded on the English National Curriculum, together with follow-up questions designed around spaced retrieval. Stories are written by an artificial intelligence model, checked by a second model for science accuracy and age fit, and then shown to you as a draft for approval. The service is delivered through our website, which you can add to your phone’s home screen.

• New accounts get a 14-day free trial that includes up to 10 stories. No payment card is needed to start.
• When the trial ends you can subscribe to keep going. If you do not, your account stays open but you cannot generate new stories; nothing is charged.
• One trial per household. We may refuse or end a trial that we reasonably believe is being used to avoid paying.

• The Family plan costs £8.99 a month or £79 a year, including VAT where applicable, and covers up to 4 children and up to 60 stories a month across the household. Prices are shown in pounds sterling.
• Payment is taken by Stripe at the start of each billing period and renews automatically until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from Settings, through the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then. We do not offer refunds for part-used periods unless the law requires it.
• If a payment fails we will email you and retry. If it still fails after a reasonable period, story generation pauses until payment is sorted out.
• If we change prices we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, and the new price applies from your next renewal after that.

Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from subscribing to change your mind. If you start using the service during that time you agree that we may charge you for the stories generated before you cancel.

Every story is generated by an AI model and reviewed by another. That review is good but not perfect: it can miss a factual error, an awkward phrase, or something that does not suit your particular child. That is why nothing is read until you have approved it.

• You are responsible for reading each draft and deciding whether it is right for your child before you approve it and read it to them. You can edit or reject any draft.
• Stories are entertainment designed to support learning. They are not a substitute for school, a tutor, or a textbook, and we make no promise about educational results.
• If you spot an error or something inappropriate, please tell us at stonempv@gmail.com (placeholder). It helps us improve the checks.

• The details you enter about your children remain yours. You give us permission to use them only to run the service, as described in the privacy policy.
• You may use the stories generated for your family however you like at home: read them, print them, keep them. You may not resell them or present them as a product of your own.
• The software, curriculum scaffold, style system and everything else that makes up the service belong to us or our licensors.

Please do not:

• Add a child you are not the parent or guardian of, or enter information about a child that they or their parent would not want held.
• Use the “steer” or profile fields to try to generate content that is violent, sexual, hateful, or otherwise unsuitable for children, or to get the models to do anything other than write a bedtime story.
• Share your account, or use automated tools to generate stories in bulk.
• Try to break into, overload or reverse engineer the service.

• You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Your data is deleted as described in the privacy policy.
• We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we are required to by law. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you the chance to export your stories.
• If we ever decide to close the service we will give you at least 60 days’ notice and a way to download your stories.

We aim to keep the service available but cannot promise it will never go down; generation in particular depends on third-party AI providers. We may change or improve features over time. If a change makes the service materially worse for you, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part of any annual subscription.

• Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law says cannot be limited.
• Otherwise, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our negligence, up to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.
• We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses (the service is for personal use), or for the consequences of a story you chose to approve and read.
• Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute can be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

If we make a change that matters we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect and update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.
